Retiring from St Mary’s after 25 Years

The end of the Autumn term saw a big change for St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in High Green, Sheffield – their longest serving member of staff, admin officer Anne Cheetham, retired after 25 years’ service.

Anne, who started working at St Mary’s in 1992, has seen many changes over the years and has taken them all in her stride!  She began her relationship with St Mary’s as a parent and applied for a few hours work in the office – 25 years later that role had expanded beyond recognition yet Ms Cheetham’s bubbly personality and smiley face continued to greet all who made contact with the school.

Mrs Alex Healy, Headteacher, said that Anne would be greatly missed and that she had done a sterling job of being the ‘face’ of the school for so many years and that she epitomised the values of St Mary’s.

Anne’s time at St Mary’s came to an end with a special assembly looking back over the last 25 years and ended with a rousing performance of ‘Simply the Best!’

Ms Cheetham said that it had been a privilege to be involved in so many children’s lives and to even welcome past pupils back as parents themselves.  She said she felt so lucky to be able to do her job at St Mary’s for such a long time and that she would miss the community greatly.  However, Anne reminded the school that she would still be a familiar face when collecting her grandchildren!

Annie – you will be missed.  You are ‘Simply the Best’.  God Bless.
